Friday glee is not making a splash

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: since it's too hot here, have some deep-water soloing.

After months of not climbing because I moved to a new area, I finally contacted a local climbing organization about participating in one of their events this weekend. Haven't heard back yet, but initiating contact with strangers is a big step for me, so win!

YAY! I send you the best on the new climbing group. It's always tough to start out with new people, but it is often very rewarding.

We went today! Everyone was nice and there were only a few times when I felt like an awkward noob. I'm going to try to get to the bouldering night later this week. I think it's best to strike while the iron is hot in terms of meeting new people.

I've always been a ropes girl, but I'm going to give bouldering a try later this week because that is what everyone does here.
