The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.
It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.
N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.
To enhance this week's glee (and because of how I spent yesterday): here's a repeat link to one of my favourite bits of climbing footage ever, Johnny Dawes demonstrating one-handed (and no-handed) climbing.
Free advertising: his idiosyncratic and brilliant autobiography Full of Myself has just come out, and you can see Niall Grimes talking to him about it here. Review by Ed Douglas here; representative extracts at Footless Crow here.

Can't remember, have you read 9 Out Of 10 Climbers Make the Same Mistakes? Mr MacLeod has some very wise advice on the psychology of pushing yourself to work on your weaknesses and the things that scare you.

Date: 2011-12-02 04:38 pm (UTC)You need to go mentally prepared for strange genius and Dawes not being the easiest communicator when it comes to trying to explain things to people whose brains don't work the same way his does, but it's stuff you won't get from anyone else.
My tiny mind is all blown now; it's going to take months and possibly years to unpack and start to practice all the stuff he was trying to teach in a couple of hours.
How's Birmingham for you? *g*
