Friday glee is Oscar-nominated

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. I am watching it slowly make its way across the continent - it premiered in the UK a month ago, Netherlands a week ago, maybe it'll reach Eastern Europe by springtime :D

It's worth the wait! Hopefully the Oscar nomination will help make sure it gets a wide release.

I did some boring leading this week :) [this is good because I get Too Stressed leading, so boring leading is good!]

Oh, that's wonderful! On all fronts. I'm so happy for all of them.

My two main thoughts re: this, ever since I heard they made the shortlist:

1) We might get to see Honnold on the red carpet, which has the potential to be comedy GOLD, given his innate dorkery and inability to take these things seriously.

2) All of E. Chai Vasarhelyi's interview clothes have been subtly amazing (I have a minor sideline in fashion-nerding), so I really really want to see her Oscars outfit. Not least because I'm sure she's had it planned for months.

She is by all accounts super-badass and does not fear tear gas and I think she's fiercely ambitious and I respect that.

Four weeks in a row climbing! And I am starting to feel more cheerful about it again. (I really hate the getting-back-up-to-speed feeling, way more than starting-something-out-wholly-new-and-being-rubbish.)

Obviously I have seen Free Solo as per other discussions :) and I have been encouraging OTHER people to see Free Solo too. Might see if d is up for watching Dawn Wall tonight now that they too have seen Free Solo (and v much enjoyed it).

YES. Not being able to do stuff you know you could do is very frustrating and miserable.

and I have been encouraging OTHER people to see Free Solo too.

It's definitely something which can be enjoyed and appreciated by non-climbers too.

Might see if d is up for watching Dawn Wall tonight now that they too have seen Free Solo (and v much enjoyed it).
