Friday glee is all about The Move

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

To enhance this week's glee: James Pearson repeats Steve McClure's Elder Statesman, HXS 7a (the grade, for the uninitiated, translating roughly as "I have no clue how to grade this using the trad grading system, but it's definitely very difficult").

I ended up not climbing last weekend, but I'm set to climb on Sunday with my partner. Looking forward to that. Tomorrow is the annual bouldering competition at my rock gym. Always an interesting event!

Ohh! Bouldering competitions are so much fun to watch!

They are! I saw Jimmy Web win the local competition when he was first going pro. So you never know who're you're going to see, and the climbing is beautiful.

I have glee because I made it outdoors for the first time this year, and (among other things) climbed a wonderful wonderful little V3 arete called The Celtic Cross between the Burbage South quarries.

It's a marvellous problem, and also possibly has the best location in the valley, because it's located high up on the edge on a little balcony of turf that puts it level with the top of the routes.

Oh, what a beautiful place to climb! Climbing outdoors is special. I live in Florida where there is no climbing outside a gym, so I rarely get to climb outdoors.
