Friday glee has nothing but sunshine

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

I climbed a V2 at my gym! Lately I've been really struggling to get up any V1s, and even falling off some of the new barbaric V0s (oh, lack of practice, you are not my friend), so this feels like a real accomplishment. I've done it three times now, and almost wonder if the route is mislabeled... But maybe it's just one where its difficulties map to what I'm best at, instead of the other way around.

And it's a fun route. It starts on a horizontal wall just below a 90 degree angle, immediately corners around to a wall at the right, goes over another corner up on that one, and then slides back left along a slabby top portion to end up right above where it started. Very satisfying to go up; rather terrifying to come back down.

Yay! Congratulations! It sounds like an interesting problem; I like ones that travel about a bit.

But maybe it's just one where its difficulties map to what I'm best at, instead of the other way around.

Could well be. That's usually true of the first things I climb when I break into a new grade.

Finally went back indoor bouldering after half a year of just outdoor buildering. My wall had a 2-for-1 deal for 10er cards, and there were no screaming school children so it was nice and quiet. Spent a happy hour climbing overhangs, and then a traverse of the big hall to tire myself out completely. Today my back hurts in just the right way. :)
