The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.
It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.
N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.
To enhance this week's glee: a film about Silvia Vidal, one of the world's greatest solo aid climbers. This is a woman who will spend over a month living alone on an unclimbed big wall in the middle of the wilderness, without even a communication device. Rock and Ice picked her as one of their top 12 climbers of 2012.

Date: 2013-01-18 01:06 pm (UTC)I've been walking in a warm pool in a fitness gym to try to build stamina. My endurance has sucked because I'm not able to climb regularly because I have a partner with scheduling problems. But with the addition of the pool work and a second partner who can climb on Friday mornings, I'm on my way to getting better.

Date: 2013-01-18 01:10 pm (UTC)a) the result of the manipulation under anesthesia was that I don't need surgery, and
b) I managed to give the hard sell on climbing to the anaesthetist's assistant while he was prepping me for the spinal anaesthetic. He asked how I'd been injured, then said he'd always been interested in climbing. So I gave him the spiel, including explaining that injuries like mine were really very rare ...
