The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: Tomoko Ogawa becomes the first woman in the world to climb V14.

I got a happy hour of bouldering in last weekend. Amusingly, it was the skin on my fingertips that gave out first (which says something about how little climbing I've done recently!).

That bouldering problem looks impossible!

Yeah, I'm having to build up all my callouses again. It's slow going!

Wow, thanks for linking, that was amazing to watch. "finger pull ups"... Half the time I can't even tell what she's holding onto.

No climbing for me this week, but I'll survive. This is the problem of having a lawyer for a climbing partner. (grin)

My other partner is moving into an apartment today, so she can't climb either.

Such is life.

Yeah, most of my climbing partners have nine-to-five jobs so I'm resigned to having no people to outdoor-boulder with during the winter season, since it gets dark around fivish now.

I just got back from an hour of climbing outside on my own... not quite as much fun as climbing with friends, but it was still satisfying. Some of the climbing structures on playgrounds have tricky routes if you look for them. With the perfect degree of difficulty that seems impossible on first try but that you can get with lots of tries.

That's cool. I wish I could do that, but I've got some knuckles on both hands that simply won't tolerate the stresses of bouldering. Boo-hiss.

Hi, folks. New to defy_gravity and DW, relatively new to climbing (coming up on my six-month anniversary about this time next week).

Glee of the week: finally figured out (and by figured out, I mean was forced to admit I needed to learn) hand-foot matching, enabling some progress on a V2 project. Solved my first V3 (once; sadly not reproducible yet). That drew a "nice beta" from the setter, which I reckon is always a good feeling.

I took my beginner's course last weekend and have been climbing a few times since and it is awesome. I managed to do a couple of walls rated 5 yesterday which felt like a massive achievement when I got to the top, and made my way extremely messily through one of the very easy bouldering routes. I find it hugely frustrating how quickly my arms give out when I try bouldering, but I suppose it's one of those things where the only way to get better is to keep doing it...
