The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.
It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.
N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.
To enhance this week's glee: after freeing the Longhope route, Dave MacLeod and Andy Turner relax on a mere E5 on Orkney.
Note: the Long Hope DVD is now out, it's amazing (here's the UKC review), and it even has MacLeod's ascent of the infamous Indian Face as an extra (here's MacLeod looking at it and backing off it back in 2007). Support your local Scottish hardcore obsessive world-class athlete and blogger!

Date: 2011-12-09 12:13 pm (UTC)I had one of those moments yesterday where I was trying to get over an overhang, and my feet weren't on great holds, and my center of gravity was far too far out from the wall to just stand up, and the handholds were a bit fingery. I thought "bother, not going to make this move", and yet somehow managed to haul on the handholds and pull myself into the wall enough to stand up. Dreadful triumph of brute strength and ignorance over technique, but felt good anyway :-)

Date: 2011-12-09 01:20 pm (UTC)(Yesterday, I managed one of the most graceless moves I've ever done. It relied heavily on the friction on the backside of my climbing jeans.)
