The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. I got the V4 roof problem I've been working on for weeks! Really hard for me because I have very limited stamina, but it was such a fantastic problem (full-on toe-hooking w00t!) and I finally managed to link it.

I pushed myself and went to a wall I've only visited once before (Mile End, where they have a few terrifying highball walls which probably contravene all the health and safety regs -- how they get away with it, I have no clue, though I'm sort of glad they do).

And the summer bouldering comp at my favourite favourite wall is coming up! I am training intensively to run around and squee.

Friday Glee wants a piece of that glee... have there been any posts on fat girls/guys getting started in climbing? I know I'm never going to be scaling anything impressive—no matter how thin I get, it wouldn't change the chronic pain I'm in, I can't pay attention long enough to drive a car across town much less climb a mountain. But I used to be a monkey as a kid and I'd love to get into it again, just small stuff.

If there's not such a post, is it cool making one to ask for advice?

I think it'd be of interest to a lot of people wondering about getting into climbing. And I'd love to see more posts in the comm from people who are not me, so I don't feel so self-conscious and spammy.

I can't pay attention long enough to drive a car across town much less climb a mountain.

This is (one of the reasons) why I boulder. I only have the attention span for small rocks.

My glee this week is finding new climbing partners! I climbed on Wednesday with a group that I'd never heard of! But I found them when one of them responded to my Craig's List ad looking for a partner. And tonight I may be climbing with a woman who answered my ad.

I finally went climbing again (first time since the 2nd)! As you might expect, it wasn't necessarily a stellar performance, but it felt good to be climbing again :-)

It always takes a bit of time to get my head back in gear after I've been off, even if it's only for a week.
