Friday glee says hi to the new comm members and subscribers

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

I actually went climbing this week (only the second wall session this month, if my notes are to be believed - stupid house-moving), which was fun (new 6a+/b, too). More excitingly, I have next week off, and we are going to North Wales. If the weather holds, I'm hoping for a couple of days on the rocks [probably Holyhead Mountain for some hard and short climbs, and then something in Snowdonia for a long multi-pitch adventure] :-) :-)

Ice climbing is awesome (I went once at the indoor wall in Kinlochleven), I'd like to do more of it at some point. Maybe when my crazy friends go skiing ;-)

I have glee because I got my V5 project, involving my twisty bizarro move that (so far) no-one else can copy.

It also involved what may be the hardest top-out I've ever done (I did not make it look cool; there was considerable flailing and swearing involved).

I sometimes get to the top of a trad route, and think "Where the **** am I going to build a belay up here????"

It's not really worthy of glee-tastic but I climbed my first v2 since my broken foot so I guess I'm doing ok.

New shoe lust re: LaSportiva Tarantula shoes. They look awesome for my "duck paddles" aka feet. Sorry to make a shoe post but my feet are extra hard to buy shoes for.
