Friday glee has etriers

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

It was a great day in my life when I got to lead that route.

I didn't climb the last 3 weeks due to travel, illness, etc., so I was really pleased this week to find that I was still very capable of climbing hard 9s and 10s -- like my capabilities hadn't significantly regressed in my time away from the wall.

Most of the 6 routes I climbed on Tuesday I had to rainbow 1-3 moves, but I also felt like I was doing hard things and doing fairly well at them and developing skills.

I had hoped to be able to exercise by next week, but my surgeon has forbidden rock climbing completely, and said no abdominal work or jumping rope - aerobics only - until he sees me on the 30th. His idea of exercise is a brisk walk.

Man, is he ever wrong.
