The post of glee is where you tell us what bits of climbing-related awesome you accomplished this week. Anything is welcome, and members are encouraged to cheer each other on.
Hi everyone! I am new, and I do parkour, which is kind of like climbing in that climbing is involved. Please feel free to tell me if this isn't the right comm for parkour-related climbing stuff.
My glee for the week was completing an unassisted vault up onto a shoulder-high wall. The first few times I tried it, I was hoisting up on a knee and an elbow (and my instructor was like OMG STOP THAT), but after a few more tries I was able to get up there properly.
Now my instructor has me trying a nine-foot wall, and my arms and shoulders are Very Upset about it.
I am not a mod, but I'd argue that parkour is quite closely related to buildering, which is definitely climbing, and there isn't a parkour comm on DW, so ... anyway, welcome!
Also: PARKOUR ROCK ON. There are some beginners' classes in my neighbourhood, and I keep being tempted to try it and see how it affects my bouldering, but I haven't been brave enough yet *g*.
