rydra_wong: "i like to climb alot". The xkcd stick figure climbs up the side of Hyperbole and a Half's yak-like "alot." (climbing -- alot)

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: Hansjörg Auer on Mother Night (E4).

It's so far away from climbing I'm kinda unsure about mentioning it, but I'm at least going up a mountain this weekend, after 6 weeks of wait. It's the first place I climbed actual rocks on, though, so adding this here even if I
can't recommend it as a target, it's the most rotten sort of limestone conglomerate, but sometimes you're there and the mountain's pretty, you know.

It was beautiful, and I did get to go down it on a route I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing alone in winter conditions on account of running into two other people doing it who were fine with me tagging along.

We had new routes at the wall this week :) Also, I'm hopefully going ice climbing next week!

Six weeks in a row of going to the Arch! (I wasn't in the mood AT ALL this week but wasn't willing to break my streak, which is precisely why thinking of it that way is useful :) ). And when I got there I got up one of the overhanging V2-3 routes which was very pleasing as usually overhangs are not my thing. (This one did have conveniently juggy holds, which is often what trips me up on the V2-3 routes I've been trying.)
