The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: Ian Lloyd-Jones has created a new exploratory journey through the Llanberis slate quarries -- Hobbits, Ladders and Tunnels.

Route description here -- as it says, it's not a "conventional climbing experience", and doesn't involve much climbing per se, but I think falls within the remit of strange adventurous activities practiced by climbers ...

There's a couple of these described online (ukclimbing forums, I think), and they all seem a bit bonkers :)

Wow. That is a route I don't ever need to do!

I'm off to my post-op appointment today to see if the sinus is healing properly. I will find out (I hope) when I can go back to exercising, so that I can begin the boxing training.

Well, the news is I'm healing fine, but can't exercise for another 2 to 4 weeks, depending on how things look at the next post-op visit. (sigh) I'm doomed to live vicariously a bit longer.

I went bouldering last night and spent the entire evening on one problem. I probably tried it fifteen times. I never did get up it, but on my last try I finally got out from under the overhanging roof and got my fingers on the next hold. So even if I couldn't stick it yet, I can get there. Next time, Gadget! Also, a guy who was similarly quietly assaulting a problem four grades above what I was climbing spontaneously yelled "Yeah! You got it!" when I touched that piece, and it was cheering that he was supportive. :)

That's one of the things I love about climbing is the cheering on from other climbers! Congratulations on making that move!

Thanks! I'm out of town this upcoming week, but I am hoping to make it back the week after, and we'll see if it's still there. If it is, rematch time. :)
