Hello climbing people.
I'm looking to go climb some fun outdoor things at about a Diff (we aren't very good at the gear faff yet, don't want to risk Hard climbing). And I want to spend the least amount of time possible in a car (we don't own one, so we'd have to hire one somewhere) as cars are horrid; but also I don't want to carry Copious Trad Gear on my back or my bicycle for huge distances. We want to be away for about a week, and probably don't want to climb that whole time, so someplace with Other Things To Do (especially If Wet... this is the UK) would be good.
Anyone got any ideas?

Date: 2016-08-15 04:09 pm (UTC)The Fox House bus stop (and the Surprise View stop, a few stops further long) puts you in the middle of a cluster of wonderful crags -- the postcode is S11 7TY so plugging that into http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/map/#main will show you what there is and you can see if it appeals.
Burbage North in particular might be relevant to your interests; it requires a (very scenic) walk up the Burbage Valley for circa 40 mins at a leisurely pace, but it has really lovely classic short routes at easy grades. It's a very low-stress, beginner-friendly crag for getting your trad on.
Side note: because of reasons, this year I am actually spending half my time living in that area. So if I'm around at the time, I could potentially offer my local tour guide services (this might or might not appeal).
