The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: Paul Pritchard reads "Rubble Merchants, Slate Heads and Others", his amazing account of the '80s climbing scene in Llanberis.

Well, no climbing. But I found out I could buy a climbing treadmill thing for about $10,000.

And that will come when I win the lottery I don't play. (grin)

I went climbing! For the first time in over a year! And discovered that the Arch now has *two* buildings in the business estate thingy. Exciting times ;)

Also discovered that my climbing muscles are out of practice... *wiggles shoulders* *ouch*

I did not! Not that I am ever likely to make it out to Burnt Oak, but very glad that they're doing well & expanding & so on :)

I am healed and back to climbing! Obviously at a lower level than before, and I was super tentative while leading, but still. My strength did not decrease as much as I feared because I started lifting with my climbing buddies in the intervening months :)

YAY! I have been working out regularly with weights since I cannot climb. I'm amazed how much upper body muscle mass I've gained. If I ever do get back on the wall regularly, I think I'll finally conquer mantling properly!

Dips have been really good for building mantle-related muscles! Though I still need to use an assist machine to execute them successfully...

I do a lot of tricep and deltoid exercises. Those seem to be the muscles I need for mantling. I have always sucked at it, and I'm determined to get better.
