rydra_wong: Angelica Lind stretches for a hold during a bouldering competition (climbing -- reach)

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: a splendidly-long interview with Steve McClure, as his autobiography Beyond Limits has just come out.

I have glee because next week I'm going climbing in France for a week, on the limestone of Provence :-) [Also, I nearly got my Fr7a project, so it feels achievable unless it gets re-set in the next few weeks...]

Ah, that's lovely. You'll have to let us know how it was!

Thanks! though I won't be able to try it until I'm back again.

My partner is back in town and I'm going climbing with her. We'll see if I make any progress with that damned 5.9 over the volume.

The volume was a no go. I was not breathing well. (Still suffering the after-effects of a bad summer cold that hit me last weekend.) But I did climb!

I finished a V2 today!

It's my second V2, and I picked it to work on specifically because it requires skills I suck at (balance, tiny holds, and confidence), so yay!

Also my gym put up a lot of new routes around my skill level on the back wall. \o/

I love new routes! YAY! on picking the V2. Challenges are the best, and the best climbers choose them!
