Friday glee salutes the Daves

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

I got rained off climbing last weekend, but our local wall has new routes this week! They were entertaining, although particularly bad sandbags :)

I am going to visit family next weekend in South Florida and there is a rock gym near there. I'm going to try to go bouldering. Send me good vibes!

"Sandbag" is a term for a route that's much harder than the grade it's officially been given.

(You can also "sandbag" someone by encouraging them onto a route which is going to be much harder than they expect. Sometimes climbers are cruel to each other. *g*)

Oh! Yes, I've heard this term, but never relating to climbing. Thus I was thrown. Got it.

Sandbagging here is usually used in golf. (grin)
