Friday glee is smiling
The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.
It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.
N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.
To enhance this week's glee: Tyler Landman solves one of gritstone's Last Great Problems -- Smiling Buttress at Curbar.

Last week when I climbed on the auto-belay, I once again had a huge birthday party that I had to share with. I have to say that I've been very fortunate. The children who come to the rock gym seem to all be very polite, which makes it pleasant.
I climbed until I was sweating and exhausted, and when I left the kids were still going up and down the walls like frenetic little monkeys. I cannot imagine having that kind of energy anymore!

OTOH, if it was a birthday party, they were probably on a sugar high by that point. *g*
As always, thanks for sharing great video!
My pleasure! Especially having watched Landman's climbing career since he was a baby!climber (okay, in his early teens). He seems to have handled the child-sports-prodigy thing well; apparently he made a conscious decision that he didn't want to make it the sole focus of his life, and currently he climbs ridiculously hard things like this in his holidays from studying neuroscience.

On Sunday I went climbing with a friend who was in the beginner class with me. Also met a few new peeps there. I'd really love to meet a buddy who would bug me to go with them. So far it's always me doing the bugging :)
