I was entertaining people with these in chat, and thought I'd share the linkspam. The unique interview stylings of Alex Honnold:

In which CBS would clearly prefer it if Alex would show some signs of having a nervous system while solo-ing a very long way off the ground.

In which CBS try and fail to get Alex to communicate in anything other than valleyspeak. Dostoevsky is heinous, dude.

In which Alex explains his nutritional secrets: "So I figured, why shouldn’t I just eat cookies every day?"

I saw the 60 minutes thing. Though I think free soloing is a good way to die young, it was fascinating.

It's definitely not something I'd do, but I respect people's right to set their own risk threshold.

Somebody's pointed out that free soloing is statistically safer than, say, climbing K2 (which I wouldn't do either).

Yeah, mountain climbing where you need oxygen and there are avalanche risks is WAY beyond my risk threshold. (grin)

My risk threshold is usually to be found about 4 metres above a good-quality bouldering mat. *g*
