Glee to the world

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big.

Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

To enhance this week's glee: Dave MacLeod on an E10 slab. Also, Kev Shields is more hardcore than you.

(Note: some people seem to have trouble getting the vid to play, so a kind person in the thread here has put it up for download.)

My glee for today was climbing with Fred! We had a wonderful time. There were a bunch of new 5.8 routes in the gym for me to try. Though one of them defeated me by requiring mantling on a volume and I simply didn't have the power to do it by the time I tried the route. I'm going to try it again on Saturday.

Fortunately Fred gives great beta, so I was able to finish the other new 5.8 I tried. YAY!

Mantling is incredibly hard. Thus I'm determined to be able to do it. Strength training is on the agenda!

Traverses defeat me on a regular basis. I can't imagine trying a mean one!
