Friday glee is afraid of the sea

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: I've only just started watching it, but this is an epic feature-length film about British sea-cliff climbing: The Seaside.

I don't think my trad game is quite good enough for sea cliffs yet! Some of the pictures I've seen of things like A Dream Of White Horses (HVS at Gogarth) look epic...

My glee this week is new routes at the wall. They hadn't put the grades up, so I tried a route that didn't look to bad, and fell off about 3 moves up, twice, and gave up, a little discouraged. While we were loitering, they came and wrote up the grades on that panel - 7a! We had a laugh about that :)

It's always amazing to me how deceptive some routes can be in looks.

I climbed a new-to-me 10A and didn't cheat at all. (I did fall off the wall once near the beginning, but that start is hard.)

Also, I did the 10A I conquered last week and only needed my belayer to remind me of one of the moves.

I climbed three 5.10As on Tuesday, and it's exciting to me that this is my new normal (after having plateaued for so long with 5.7/5.8 being my comfort zone and being able to do some 5.9s but that being a stretch).
