Friday glee hopes never to rupture a kidney

Peak District! Crags got decided based on the weather and complex discussions; ended up being Burbage North on Saturday and Yarncliffe Quarry yesterday.

I'm starting off my weekend with climbing. Last Friday I climbed with my partner Lior. There is a 5.9 that's got a volume in the middle of it that requires a mantling move I couldn't get last week. I'm determined to do it today. We shall see....

I did. Still didn't make it. DAMN MANTLING. I hate that. But I will continue to train and I will get that damn route yet.

I have glee because I'm going to do some trad climbing tomorrow (limestone in the Peak) :) Also, I ticked one of my project routes at the wall this week...

Cool on the project route. We have limestone pits here in Florida, but no one climbs them. The rock is so soft, it crumbles. So I'm curious about climbing limestone elsewhere.

Brassington is Doleritic limestone, which is quite hard, and pretty pockety. Which does make gear placement interesting at times!

It's very different limestone. Nothing hard about ours at all! But then, it's not cliffs but holes! We have limestone pits, and most of the time they're filled with water. Florida's highest point is 300 feet about sea level and most of the state is below sea level. So it makes for a very different environment.

Yay project! How was your weekend?

Good! We went to Brassington for the day, and did 5 routes; mostly a little tough for their grades but short, and sometimes tricky to protect.
