GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Today we have Friday glee. Since we have not had glee in, erm, a really long time, this post is open to any climbing glee you have experienced since August 28th of last year. *sheepish*

If you've got it, share it. :)

On Wednesday I went climbing for the first time after being in hospital for five months! And it was wonderful! And I managed to do a V3!

(Okay, it was one of my slabby balance-y stand-up-on-one-toe-with-no-hands specials; my strength is way down. But still!)

Well, I only started learning to climb at the end of July last year, so nearly all of my climbing glee is since then :)

This week I have been climbing twice! Three times if you count last Saturday, when I did a 5A & only cheated once & maybe a half (not actually sure if I had my weight on the rope a bit at that point). Today was bouldering, and rather to my surprise I did several V1s & worked out half of a V2 (where normally I'm at V0). I was at a different place to normal so maybe I had different expectations of myself?

MUCH FUN.

My glee is discovering this community! A friend just told me about you and I'm so happy to find you!

I'm relatively new to climbing, starting last July, and mostly I top rope, I'm regularly climbing 5.8s and starting to climb 5.9s. My bouldering skills are just beginning to grow, as I completed a V2 this past week for the first time ever.

I should also mention, I'm 56, took up rock climbing when I was 55, and I'm SO in love with this sport I can't see straight. I'm the oldest person climbing at my gym, and I'm actually older than my trainer's mother, which I find amusing.

But I'm getting stronger every day, have lost 14.5 pounds, and live for my twice weekly sessions. I'm looking for a partner to climb with so I can add some bouldering and fun climbing to my week, but thus far haven't located anyone who needs a partner. I live in hope.

I'm in Florida, and we have a lot of excellent climbing gyms here, and there's terrific climbing all over the Southeast in nature. I hope to climb outside next summer.

Thanks! The icon is of a t-shirt I had made. It makes me laugh. (grin)
