Yup, it's a goodie. I was slightly surprised by that, much as I've admired Grimer's guidebook work in the past, because I couldn't see how there was a niche between "detailed guide to a single area" and "pretty but useless coffee table book with gorgeous pictures of rocks all round Britain".
But instead, it's got a level of detail that could help you pick an area to visit, or provide you with enough to do for several days on a visit to somewhere outside your "home turf", where you might not want to buy an entire guidebook unless you're going to be returning regularly.
(It does have some gorgeous pictures, too, but that's an added bonus.)
