Friday glee feels much better on rock

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: Australian climber Monique Forestier climbs 8b and discusses climbing while pregnant and as a new mum.

I know it's going to jinx the weather, but. This Sunday. Trad. New gear to play with. I've not been climbing at all since the 8th, and I'm itching to get out on some rock :-)

Ah, my glee this week wasn't. I had to cancel climbing on Wednesday because I managed to have an accident in my car. WOE! But I'll be back on the wall Monday!

I had my first ever climbing lesson yesterday. The actual climbing was as much fun as I expected from everything I've read, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the knot tying and belaying too. I am looking forward to my second lesson next week.

It's one of those things I've been meaning to try for months but stuff kept getting cancelled / not working out / postponed / what have you, and it finally all came together and I got it done. So glad I did.

I've got to say that your enthusiam for it was a big factor in my not just giving up and saying it's not meant to be, so thank you for that.

I went climbing! Twice!

Also, today I was very sensible and did not do a couple of moves I was uncertain of (since right atm I really must not fall). This pleased & reassured me, because earlier in the week I just didn't hit anything that triggered that, and I was a bit worried that my perception of my ability was off & that I was taking too many risks.

Am impressed that Monique Forestier was climbing straight through her first trimester of pregnancy -- I felt far, far too rough to do anything of the sort. Possibly if I'd made myself go it might have helped, I guess... (At least am feeling better now!)

Also, yay for the traversing wall!

I managed to go climbing two times this week, even though I have the plague.
And despite random palpitations I managed a couple of V1s (mere beginner, but improving!)

Hey, if you're climbing while having the plague, you're WAY more devoted than me. (grin)
