Most of my climber friends are athletic guys with over a foot of height on me. Given the difference in reach and upper body strength between them and myself, I thought I'd never be able to be competent at it. Eventually I learned the obvious lesson that having half as much body weight to haul and being able to fit into strange little twisty spaces was at least as much of an advantage as they had over me, but it was something I had to learn by doing. Eventually I'll drag my lazy butt to Aikido and learn it all over again.
(Belaying, on the other hand, generally requires anchoring. Or Looney-Tunes-esque comedy. Or both.)
