Friday glee has floodlights

The Friday post of glee is where you get to tell us about your climbing-related happiness this week.

It can be a new achievement or adventure, or just that you climbed and had fun; it can be that your favourite climbing wall is expanding or that you bought new rock shoes or that you found a cool ice-climbing vid on YouTube. No glee is too small -- or too big. Members are encouraged to cheer each other on and share the squee.

N.B. Please feel free to post your glee on any day of the week; the Friday glee is just to get the ball rolling.

To enhance this week's glee: this half-hour film of Akiyo Noguchi and Tomoa Narasaki's bouldering trip to Bishop.

I had a great energy day on Wednesday so I decided to tackled that one 8er route (5.11b I think) with the boulder move I never could make work, and I stuck it at first try, for the first time ever. Then I switched ropes and climbed the rest of the route as well, so, yay. I still have to try and combine both sections which is tricky because the route runs between two ropes and the crux is that one move on the very left followed by the next move on the very right, so for one of them the rope will inevitably be in the wrong place.

Still, I have two categories for routes: get up somehow, and get up clean. So this is a notch in category I. :)

Congratulations! It's SO wonderful to make a move and have it work first time.
